Training
Over the years Marvellous Maids has offered many different levels of training, from a one day induction course for experienced workers to a bespoke course lasting over 6 weeks.
Our Marvellous Maids Academy will be offering the following courses over the next few months:
Domestic Foundation Course
The go to manual for all domestic workers, covering hygiene, cleaning methods, laundry, daily, weekly, and monthly schedules. This manual covers everything from how to and why to clean in a certain manner, interaction with employers, making of beds, laying of tables, window cleaning, using a vacuum cleaner, washing of floors and cleaning products and how to use them.
Office Cleaning
This manual covers the duties of tea and cleaning ladies in offices, again starting with hygiene, cleaning methods, cleaning routine, when to vacuum, cleaning of desks without disturbing work in progress, cleaning of public toilets, cleaning of a public kitchen, appearance, interaction with other workers and your employer, serving of tea and coffee.
Laundry and Advanced Laundry
These manuals were written by Clare Shuttleworth-Richardson who did the laundry and advanced laundry courses for Super Yachts. It includes reading of labels, different fabrics, the washing machine and cycles, tumble drying, keeping colours apart, dealing with fine fabrics, linen, ironing, ironing fine fabrics, folding and packing away.
The Short Term Hospitality Handbook
This could be a Technikon Diploma course in how to run an Air BnB, lodge, guest house or accommodation establishment. It includes inventory lists, laundry in and out lists, booking calendars, cleaning schedules, how to equip a kitchen, lounge, bedrooms, bathrooms. It describes the difference between a pre, mid and post occupation cleans, guest amenities, cleaning materials and equipment, guest interaction, budgeting, economic use of resources, the importance of using a professional laundry, understanding the business, room cleaning guides and necessary spreadsheets.
Although written for the manager. supervisor or cleaner it is also an essential handbook for a hospitality establishment, short or long term owner or someone who is thinking of venturing into that field.

- Acceptance is Not Automatic.
- It is important to us that ALL trainees are placed. Should they not be placed immediately they will work on
- the Char Team until a full-time position is found.
- We do training on behalf of employers.
- Trainees are expected to speak English and be literate and numerate.
- A code of conduct will be made available and trainees not conforming may be asked to leave.
